8 DIY Halloween Costumes
If you’re like us, you’re still processing the fact that Halloween is *actually* here. When did this happen?! While you’re throwing together the ultimate spooky evening (you’re welcome), we took it one step further by creating an ultimate list of DIY Costumes. Because, let’s face it - the little ones can’t have all the fun.
Chip & Joanna Gaines
We love a good #DEMODAY moment, and these two are the King and Queen of DIY - so take a page out of their book this year. Throw on your favorite pair of jeans, a white tee, utility jacket, and booties for an instant Jo look. Give your guy a v-neck tee, baseball cap, and a construction belt, and you’ll instantly turn into a “Fixer Upper.”
Pro tip: Print out a landscape photo of your home, split it in two, and pose side by side for the ultimate “reveal.”
Audrey Hepburn
A true queen. Pearls, an LBD, and chic chignon create an ode to the classic Hollywood star. If you’re not feeling like a DIY extraordinaire, Amazon went ahead and made life easier with this all-in-one costume kit. Top off with your favorite pair of black sunnies and kitten heels, and people will be gifting you little blue boxes all night long. Well, we can dream.
Woodstock Vibes
Embrace your inner festival dreams and turn to a pair of bells, a lacy top, and flower crown. Get *far out* with your circular glasses and any type of fringe. Peace.
Miranda Priestly
“Did you fall down and smack your little head on the pavement?” The Devil Wears Prada star is iconic. You can embrace your inner Runway Editor-in-Chief with items you probably already have in your closet. Look to your classic black blazer and black trousers, trusty white blouse, leather pumps, and a statement belt. If you’re feeling bold, go for a faux-fur jacket to give your look an edge. Just remember to skip out on prints - “Florals? For Spring. Groundbreaking.” (That’s all.)
Smarty Pants
Cher? Britney? Or just a straight-up genius? Be beauty and brains with a classic plaid skirt, white button up, and faux reading glasses. Add in hues of yellow (as if!) or some pink pom pom braids (pre-2007 meltdown) to emulate your favorite 90s girls. The possibilities are endless.
Queen of Hearts
Put your artistic skills to the test with this one. Find your favorite combo of black, white, and red in your closet - preferably a fuller skirt. Create the royal hairdo by teasing your hair into a full, loose lower bun, embrace your inner heart-eyes emoji via face makeup, and top with a tiara. No candy? Off with their heads!
Rachel and Ross
“The One in Vegas, Pt. 1” can be your reality. If you have a sharpie, you have a costume, right? Become Ross and Rachel instantly by drawing on her faux facial hair, and let everyone know he’s ROSS - except this time, you can skip the marriage and annulment. We mean, it did work out in the end (spoiler alert).
Party Animals
A la Lauren Conrad.
Does anyone do Halloween better than LC? Didn’t think so. Slip dresses are still so in, and you can get crafty to make some beautiful furry headpieces. Check it out here.
