Getting Real About Self-Care
So what exactly is “self-care” and why are so many people telling us we need it? Okay, BRB - going to go on a month-long vacay with a two-hour massage and double-day bikram yoga classes!
Not so fast. Psychology Today defines self-care as “the mindful taking of time to pay attention to you, not in a narcissistic way, but in a way that ensures that you are being cared for by you.”
Endless yoga and manicures totally sound like a dream, but in all seriousness, mental health is essential to being the bad@$$ that you are. Honestly, we probably don’t practice self-care enough, or as frequently as we should. Anyone else have difficulty dedicating time for some TLC?
So, in efforts to make two worlds collide, we’re throwing together a few activities to realistically incorporate into your daily grind, to make sure that you do you. Spend some time being kind to yourself - you’re magic, afterall.
Meditate
Have a dance party
Draw a bath
Turn your phone on airplane mode (even if it’s just for an hour)
Journal
Cook a healthy meal
Attend a work out class
Take a walk
Give yourself a compliment
Read a book
Try something new
Listen to your favorite podcast
